Filipe Luis (BRA – ATM)
It was a tough choice between him and Real
Madrid’s Daniel Carvajal ( Philipp Lahm would
automatically move to the other side ) and the
Brazilian won the spot. Luis excelled throughout
last season, especially on the defensive side.
Statistics can show how defensively strong the
Brazilian was. According to Squawka, he made
1.53 interceptions and 2.13 clearances per La
Liga match. He also won around 64 percent of
the tackles he attempted. His countryman Luis
Filipe Scolari received a ton of criticism for not
calling the Atletico player and it turned out to
be right. The Brazilian side was humiliated, if
nothing more, against Germany in the semis.
